Live Opera Club
A weekly online live opera club. One cycle includes 4 opera talks. Meetings are on Thursdays at 5pm. Each meeting takes 1 hour.
The first Cycle in 2022 will take us on an operatic journey around the world - from Sicily (“Pagliacci”) to the Middle East (“Salome”) to China (“Turandot”) and finally to Argentina with “Maria de Buenos Aires”, an Austrian production Alexander Medem was part of . Our opera expert, stage director Alexander Medem, will join us from Vienna (more info on Alexander below).
Price per Cycle: HKD 1,200 for 1 person and HKD 2,000 for you and a friend (2 persons).

How does it work?

During our Zoom session, our expert will introduce the opera to our intimate group and facilitate a live conversation.
We will send you the link to watch the opera when convenient.
We will meet again the following week to debrief and present the next opera.
Alexander Medem
Stage Director from Vienna
Born in Milan to German-Peruvian parents with Russian roots, Alexander Medem is an opera director, musicologist and cultural manager in Vienna.
Between 2008 and 2010 Alexander acted as Staff Director at the Burgtheater in Vienna. As a freelance opera director he assisted a variety of renowned artists such as Placid Domingo, Christof Loy, Thaddeus Strassberger, Peter Konwitschny, Jürgen Flimm, Graham Vick and David Pountney on productions performed at international opera houses such as Theater an der Wien, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Hamburg State Opera, the Vlaamse Opera Antwerp and the Bregenz Festival.
Currently Alexander dedicates himself to directing and producing operas such as Undine at the Vienna State Opera.
